College Focused

At MCLA, college is essential for career decisions, citizenship, and empowering students to "change the world".

Our 7th graders visit San Diego colleges: SDSU, CSU San Marcos, USD, UCSD, and Southwestern College.

Our 8th graders visit LA colleges in an exciting week, including UCLA, USC, CSU LA, and CSU Long Beach.

The pathway to college starts now!

7th grade experience

Our 7th grade features a full middle school curriculum: social studies, language arts, math, physical education and life science.

Every week, each 7th grade student has the opportunity to spend an entire day in our satellite classroom at the The Living Coast Discovery Center (formerly known as the Nature Center!) where they  study the natural ecosystems of the San Diego Bay.
At the Living Coast Discovery Center, the whole coast is their classroom! Our students have the opportunity to visit the Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, Tijuana Estuary, the USS Midway, Cabrillo Monument, and the South Bay Power Plant!

8th Grade experience

In 8th grade, at Mueller Charter School, our primary emphasis lies in fostering civic literacy among our students. We achieve this objective through a comprehensive curriculum that covers humanities, mathematics, and physical science, utilizing engaging project-based methodologies.

We believe in providing our 8th graders with enriching learning opportunities beyond the confines of the classroom, further expanding their horizons and facilitating their overall growth.
